A sigh hangs heavy over the world
A groan
Shivers through river and valley and stone
And when is the question inside
When will the groom from the virgin’s womb
Carry his bride across the threshold of time,
Unweave and weave again the world that aches to be reborn
That waits the sound of waking morn
It’s only a matter of time
Until matter and time will stand breathless –
While the deathless Life resurrects the universe,
The Curse accursed and funerals reversed –1
Until the Risen Son descends to burn the chaff
And turn the groans of saints to laughter
And bids all things to sing, to share the New Birth
Blooming beyond the tomb –
Until the whole earth
Joins the joy of never-ending, sorrow-mending Ever After
It’s only a matter of time until matter and time give way
To the tear-stained words Thy children pray
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
As heaven is, make earth the same
And let all that breathes and loves and grieves
Extol Your all-glorious, victorious Name

1 – the effects of the Curse are here referred to as the Curse, and accursed is meant in the sense of having doom and undoing brought upon it. This line is also inspired by an album title.
