Lately, I have felt somewhat paralyzed regarding what to post. Then, while replying to a letter this afternoon, I had an idea – sharing an excerpt from my letter. So here it is (a bit edited):
Dear Faith*,
Thank you for your kind notes to me and my siblings. It was fun to open your package and find homemade marshmallows with cocoa! This is a special gift that is perfect for the Christmas season. You asked about our Christmas traditions: there is nothing that stands out to me as obviously unique, but we do have traditions in the sense that we do some of the same things from year to year. For example, each year, our church goes caroling to senior members. First, we meet at church to coordinate carpooling, assemble gift baskets, and sign cards to accompany the baskets.
Wait – I just thought of a special tradition that my mom started. Last year (I think it was) she began taping up a string where we pin Christmas cards as they come in the mail, making a Christmas card garland. This is a fun way for us to continue enjoying the cards after we open them. We are thankful for the many people who care about us and share their lives with us, like you and your family!
P.S. God Calls it Good readers:
Think about it –
Can you think of one thing you’re thankful for today? How about five things?
What is something you wish that another person would do for you? What is one way you can be a blessing to someone else today?
